Manipur govt assistance of NGOs, civil society organisations in the fight against COVID-19

Manipur government on Friday called upon the NGOs and civil society organisations to come forward and assist related with fighting against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

 

Willing NGOs and civil society organisations are appealed to come forward with the type of assistance that will provide (financial/manpower/material) and geographical areas where they will provide assistance, an office memorandum issued by the state Home department said on Friday.

 

The lockdown necessitated to prevent the spread of the pandemic (COVID-19) has brought tremendous hardship to the people.

 

The state machinery has been taking action to enforce the lockdown, treatment of confirmed cases, institutional quarantine of high risk cases and home quarantine of lower risk cases, provision of essential items, distribution of relief, enforcement of social distancing etc. These multiple activities of the government at a time required the assistance of the NGOs and civil society organisations . As such the state government decided to seek their assistance, the office memorandum said.

 

The NGOs and civil society organisations which are willing to render their services may come up with the details of the organisations that have the capacity and willing to assist the government in the fight to control the spread of COVID-19 and also in mitigating some of the hardships of the people.

 

The state Home department also has appointed a nodal officer (deputy secretary (Home) Dr Th Charanjit Singh) to whom the NGOs and civil society organisations can submit the details of their respective organisations and also to coordinate their assistance with the deputy commissioners of each districts.
