Mokokchung, February 22 (MExN): The Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE) observed the International Mother Language Day on February 21 based on the theme, ‘Indigenous Languages Matter for Development, peace building and Reconciliation’ with Dr. Lanurenla, Assistant Professor, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung as the resource person.
The event started with a welcome speech by Honngam Konyak, Assistant Professor, MCTE. The resource person in her address highlighted the importance of mother tongue and how language contributes to the development of a society. She also talked about how language shapes a society and how it helps achieve peace and reconciliation and challenged the student-teachers to be the guardians to teach the mother tongue to future generations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Imnajungshi B. Ed 4thSemester, MCTE.
