Mega medical camp begins at NHAK

Kohima, November 26 (DIPR): The five-day mega medical camps at Nagaland organized by Rotary Club of Bombay North Dist. 3141 and Rotary Club of Nariman Point Dist. 3141 began at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on November 26 which will conclude on November 29.  

The free medical camps have being conducting on the advice of the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya, in seven districts of Nagaland i.e. Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek and Wokha starting from November 26 till 30.  

In Kohima district, the visiting Doctors having vast experiences in their respective specialization examined both young and old patients seeking remedies for various ailments to ensure that the camp was an efficient and successful event. The Medical camp consists of two groups which included ‘Friends of Nagaland’ and Indian Academy of Echocardiography. The team members of ‘Friends of Nagaland’ included Dr. Umesh Borwankar – Surgeon; Dr. Anol Samant –Radiologist and Dr. Leena Samant – Anaesthetist while team members of Indian Academy and Echocardiography group included Dr. Hrishikesh Shah (Mumbai); Dr. Vatsala Shree (Vellore); Dr. Mohsin (Mumbai) and Dr. Sanjay Upretti (Delhi).  

Dr. Suparna Nirgudkar M.D. (Med.) Consultant Physician and Intensivist, the Team Leader of ‘Friends of Nagaland’ (Mission for the Nation) speaking to IPR Official said that this was their third visit to Nagaland on the mission. She said that ‘Friends of Nagaland’ group was the first Medical team from Mumbai to visit Nagaland in March 2015, followed by second visit in April 2016 and now the third visit.  

From the past experiences of medical camps conducted in the state, Dr. Suparna said that common life style diseases i.e high blood pressure, diabetics, hyper tension etc. have been found among the Nagas. Therefore keeping in view with the experiences, the necessary medicines for blood pressure, diabetics, anti-biotic, pain killer, acidity etc. have been sponsored by the visiting team for free distribution to the patients. She hoped that this medical camp would serve a purpose for the public and benefit the needy people of the district.  

The Doctors specialists in various discipline focus on Cardiology and others like Surgery, Medicine, Anarsthesiology, Radiology, Critical Care, Pain Management, Obstetrics and Gynaecology were assisted by the NHAK Doctors, nurses and other staffs during the camp.
