Apart from keeping up with the “tradition” of organizing the annual cake race and the New Year’s Eve extravaganza that adds fervor to the festive season in Mokokchung, the town’s Municipal Council is all geared up to organize a Christmas carnival this year. After successfully organizing the Christmas carnival last year, MMC has inserted it into its calendar of events and will be teaming up with AMAM for the carnival.
ADC Mokokchung and MMC administrator, W. Manpai Phom said that the MMC has entrusted AMAM for organizing the Christmas carnival as well as its other two trademark events, cake race and New Year's Eve extravaganza. Adventure & Motorsport Association Mokokchung (AMAM) and MMC Administrator informed this while addressing a joint press conference today at the latter’s office.
While highlighting the list of events, members of AMAM said that the second edition of the Mokokchung Christmas carnival will be held from December 16 to 19 covering the whole stretch from town square police point to Rotary Junction. It was also added that entry forms for the Christmas carnival is available at ‘Bio Medical’, below Imlong Place.
As regards the reputed annual Christmas cake race, it was informed that the format of the race would be as usual which would be between the 18 wards under the Mokokchung municipality. However, unlike the recent years, the venue for the start and finish points will be back to police point as was in the past, adding that this shift in the venue was necessitated basing on public demand.
For the New Year’s Eve extravaganza, a popular event in Mokokchung, a number of entertainers have been roped in from both within and outside the town, the organizers informed.
