Imphal, December 8 (NNN): Imphal West district police today said its commandos have arrested three active members of NSCN (K) from two different places in the district yesterday. Acting on credible information received from 28 Assam Rifles, at 6 pm yesterday, Imphal West District police commandos under the supervision of Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Commando) Imphal West apprehended two cadres of NSCN (K) at B.T. Road near Shamu Makhong here.
The duo are identified as self-styled major Gaithourung alias Gaithoumei Rongmei, 26 s/o (L) Kanamsul Rongmei of Gangloem Khullen, Tamenglong district and his army number is 14851and Kabidung Rongmei, 20 s/o Damchuilung Rongmei of Khapum Luwanglon Khullen, Tamenglong district.
Gaithourung is stated to have joined the organization in 2002 and got military training in 2006 at Agroman camp in Jiribam, Imphal East, and now working under the command of Neithenel, a self-styled lieutenant Imphal town commander of the group. He also disclosed that one of their members namely, Kathudin Rongmei is operating at Thangmeiband area.
Accused Kabidung Rongmei joined the party in 2010 through one Gaithourung the Deputy SP said in a statement. In the follow up action, another active member of NSCN (K) was also arrested at Thangmeiband Tarung namely, Kathudin Rongmei, 35 s/o (L) Gaikholung Rongmei of Khunglong part-two, Imphal West. He joined the group in 2011 through the help of one Neithenel and now working under his command.
