NSLSA district units commemorate World Aids Day

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 1 (MExN): The district units of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) observed World AIDS Day in Mon, Dimapur, Wokha, Longleng, Zunheboto, Wokha Mokokchung, Phek districts in collaboration with different organizations.  

The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Wokha in collaboration with Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) commemorated the world aid day with the theme “Right to health” at town hall, Wokha, a press release issued by NSLSA stated.  

Chief Guest Dr. Manazir Jeelani, DC Wokha spoke on the occassion. District HIV/AIDS scenario was presented by Lichumo Odyuo, DPO DAPCU, Positive sharing by Abeni Lotha, WNP+, theme speaker by Meribemo Lotha, Panel Lawyer WDLSA, activities of DLSA by Gracy Ezung, Retainer Lawyer WDLSA  

The program was attended by Chief Medical Officer and his subordinates, DAPCU members, Assam Rifles, PLHIV Wokha and students from Bailey Baptist College, invitees and WDLSA members.  

Similarly, the Longleng District Legal Services Authority (LDLSA) observed World Aids Day at the front office of the LDLSA.  

Around 30 drugs user attended the programme. Mane Phom, Retainer Lawyer LDLSA spoke on the ill effects of drugs and shared words of encouragement. The drug user also shared their testimonies. They also shared their views on organizing more programmes with the LDLSA in the future.  

Likewise, the Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) observed World Aids Day at NMP+ Office. Maongtula, Panel Lawyer MDLSA highlighted the NSLSA Schemes and Tajungla Longkumer, Panel Lawyer MDLSA shared what is legal aid and basic rights.  

In Phek Distirct a legal awareness programme was conducted by the Phek District Legal Services Authority at Chepoketa Village.  

Longshithung Ezung, Chairman PDLSA spoke on legal services activities, Vecto Sema, Secretary Kohima District Legal Services Authority spoke on NALSA scheme, Samuel, APP spoke on gender equality, MamangSingson, Retainer Lawyer PDLSA spoke on welfare scheme.  

As part of World Aids Day, Dimapur District Legal Services Authority visited Bethesda Recovery Home Dimapur. The recovery home takes care of both the drug abuse as well as AIDS patients.  

Santo Longchar, Panel Lawyer shared about the awareness on their legal rights.  

The programe was chaired by Rokovistu Khate, Panel Lawyer DDLSA where he also highlighted about the Legal Services Authority and its functions. The programme was followed by an interaction session.
