Rain to reappear in Nagaland, NE around March 4: IMD, Skymet

The current rainfall activities in northeast, including Nagaland, after a brief break is expected to reappear around March 4, according to India’s Met Department as well as private forecaster Skymet Weather. 

In an update on March 1, Skymet Weather informed that the region has been seeing some rainfall activities for the past few days and rainfall activity was widespread and moderate in nature in the last 24 hours.

After scattered rainfall in the next 24 hours, weather is likely to become dry and rains will not be seen until March 3 in the region, it said. 

Thereafter, the Western Disturbance presently affecting the Northern Himalayas will move along the foothills towards NE and rains will reappear across the region around March 4, informed the private forecaster.

The rainfall intensity will increase on March 5 and 6, and would continue till March 7 before losing intensity, it predicted. 

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in an update on Friday also informed that “scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura” on March 4 and 5.  

Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds & lightning at isolated places would occur over those areas on March 6, it added.
