RD Secretary visit SAGY Villages

Dimapur, February 18 (MExN): The Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Kelei Zeliang, along with Project Director DRDA Dimapur, DPO DRDA Dimapur, BDO Chumukedima Block, State Nodal Officer for SAGY and PMRDFs today visited two Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) villages of Nagaland – Ikishe and Seluophe.  The two villages were adopted by two Members of Parliament from the State.   According to a press note from received here, the visit was undertaken “to directly understand the need of the people in programme implementation.”   Zeliang strongly affirmed that his department has given a commitment to help adopted village to become a model village by taking up all the approved projects, to the best of his capacity, which fall under the category of Rural Development schemes and programmes, it added. The two village authorities had also interactive session with the Secretary.   The team surveyed all the worksites where intervention is urgently required to boost the life of village settlers and also undertook brief sightseeing of the works done by respective MPs in the villages.  The team also appreciated the Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio for his proactive initiatives his adopted  Seluophe village, it further maintained.   Meanwhile, as the Nodal Department for implementing the scheme, the Secretary urged upon other departments to come forward at the earliest to take up their respective projects which were approved in the State Level Empowered Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland in the presence of all HODs.   Since SAGY is a time bound programme under the direct supervision of Prime Minister’s Office, every stakeholder has to initiate their own share of tasks, he further informed. A meeting was held with district level line departments for convergence matters after the visit.
