Social Welfare Dept clarifies on nonpayment of honorarium

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 28 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare today issued a statement seeking to clarify on complaints from Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and the public regarding nonpayment of honorarium in time.

A press note from the department’s Director informed that since January 1, 2017, DBT mode for payment of honorarium has been initiated wherein the Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers are supposed to submit their Aadhaar linked Bank Account Number and IFSC Code, failing which the department is unable to transfer the amount into their account.

It said that one of the lapses detected was to do with ICDS functionaries not submitting their Aadhaar linked bank details in time. “In some cases mobile numbers have been submitted in lieu of bank details. Multiple Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers sharing one account; wrong account number; account numbers of Banks not operating in Nagaland; dormant bank accounts; contradictory personal details, Aadhaar details and bank details,” informed the press note.

Assuring that the department is trying its best to regularize all the anomalies, the department asked all Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers to immediately submit a photo copy of the bank Pass Book for smooth execution of the DBT mode at the earliest.
