A state level workshop on ‘Digital MSME’ (Micro, Small and Medium, Enterprises) a scheme to make MSME digitally empowered and motivate them to adopt ICT tools and applications in their production and business process took place today at AMK Hall, Kohima. The workshop was organised by CSC E-Governance Services India Limited.


Er Asenla Walling, Executive Engineer, Department of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland highlighted the various schemes undertaken by the department in the state.


Lanusosang Jamir, SPM, CSC E-Governance Service India Limited said that the Common Services Centres (CSCs) are the access points for delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare schemes, health care, financial, education and agriculture services apart from host of business to customer services to citizens in rural and remote areas of the country. It enables the government’s mandate of a socially, finically and digitally inclusive society.


In Nagaland, one of the recent projects of SCS in large scale was 7th Economic Census.


“Till now, we have enumerated 4,57,854 households and have completed enumeration of nine districts,” he said.
He said that the collaboration of CSC and MSME is one of the greatest initiatives. The CSCs are itself a small enterprise MSMEs by delivering services using technology.


He said that CSC has many banking correspondent and banking facilitator from where entrepreneurs can avail loans, also an entrepreneur can do GST, PAN card and IT returns from a CSC.


Sabarigiri M, assistant director, MSME DI, Dimapur explained the various features and benefits of GeM (Government e Marketplace) portal for MSME segment.


He said that GeM is a public procurement portal through which the Government is required to procure all its services and products subject only to availability.


He spoke about the Public Procurement Policy which targets a 25 percent of all Government purchases through MSMEs which further sets a target of 5 percent to be purchased from SC and ST MSMEs out of the 25 percent. He said that vast improvement was required for the SC and ST MSMEs because only 5 percent of the targeted 5 percent has been achieved so far.


He expressed that there is a huge scope for MSMEs to benefit out of GeM and encouraged the businesses and entrepreneurs to register under GeM.


He stated that the CSCs (Common Service Centres) and VLEs (Village Level Entrepreneur) played an important role in bringing businesses and entrepreneurs into the MSMEs and further into the GeM portal.

Taliwati Longchar, Director-Incharge, MSME DI, Dimapur talked on “Ushering a new era of Digital MSME.” He stated that the Digital MSME Scheme was to ensure promotion of Information and Communication Technology in MSMEs with cloud computing as one of its main components.


He stated that through cloud computing, MSMEs use the internet to access common as well as tailor-made IT infrastructure for managing their business processes. He stated that the benefits of scheme include improvement in delivery time, reduction in inventory cost, improvement in productivity and quality of production. He further stated that Awareness programmes are being held across the State to sensitize the MSMEs about the benefits of the Scheme.


Alem Sangtam, assistant manager CSC E- Governance Services India Limited spoke on “e-Management/ERP.” He stated that E-management is a tool under the scheme which provides the MSMEs with financial and accounting assistance for free.


Imtitoshi Imsong, deputy manager, SBI Main Branch Kohima talked on banking system and utilization of banking services MSME units while Lanuakum, assistant vice present HDFC Bank spoke on “Digital MSME Scheme, CSC and HDFC Bank Joint Initiative.”
