 If I Can Teach

If I can make the world a home
Where people would like with love
Plant trees and butterflies
And snow white turtle doves

If I can teach to save the world
And unite the people hand in hand
To live in peace and harmony
What a great deal it would be

If I can teach the world to unite
And think of our motherland
Because we belong to it
And contribute to it

If I can teach the world to plant trees
And make proper use of water
For all are connected as one family

If I can teach the world to love all creatures
Because what we do to creation we do to ourselves!

Yajen Aier: An Ode

He was a teacher, a guide and a friend –
A man, fortunate for one to know
A hug, a smile, an unspoken comfort he lent,
Enriching lives, a man for all seasons – move on….
Farewell! True Friend, you are tearfully missed –
Still, in our hearts, your Virtue, like a beacon Will lead
A smile, amidst tears to shine for evermore
Adieu!
With Prayers:

10 THINGS

To Emulate From Japan

1. THE CALM
Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
2.THE DIGNITY
Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
3. THE ABILITY
The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall.
4. THE GRACE
People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
5. THE ORDER
No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
6. THE SACRIFICE
Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
7. THE TENDERNESS
Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
8. THE TRAINING
The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.
9. THE MEDIA
They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
10.THE CONSCIENCE
When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly.

10 Things To Worry About

1 The nuke plants.
2 A skewed demography. Too many old people
3 Growth based on debt
4Underestimating nature
5 Overemphasis on local dialect. Many rescuers may not know it
6 Living too close to the coast
7 Low rise buildings near the water
8 Ignoring foreshocks. There was a 7.2 before the 9.0
9 Sustaining relief work in the long term.
10 Political instability
