World Youth Skill Day observed

Mokokchung, July 15 (MExN): Government ITI Mokokchung observed World Youth Skill Day on July 15 with a special event on the theme ‘Skills Development to Youth Employment.’   During the event, the Principal Er T Imlisunep Ao stated that based on various commercial market survey conducted by ITI in Mokokchung Town, it was reported that out of 1808 shops registered under MMC average salary of sales person was Rs. 2500 per month, 60 % and above with educational qualification of 12 passed & above.   Total 64 RCC houses were under construction and with 48 different workshops. 10% of skilled workers comprised of locals. It was observed that skilled workers were very few among the locals. 90% of skilled related works were done by non-locals; however unskilled works were mostly done by locals. It was also observed that all skilled workers were earning an average monthly income much higher than unskilled workers.  

The survey concluded that there is shortage of skilled workers among locals due to non-availability of skill imparting sectors. In spite of massive labor demand in the market, skilled workers could not find avenue to work daily. It also concluded that, to bridge the gap between labour market demands and labour it was necessitated to more vocational training with skill placement center.   Tuensang: World Youth Skill Day 2016 was held at Conference Hall GITI, Tuensang with Akhum Chang PGT, GHSS Thangjam as the guest of honour. The function was attended by the staff of the GITI Tuensang, Trainees of GITI and students from GHSS Tuensang.   Akhum Chang shared a documentary based on Skill development and its usefulness in recent days. He said that unemployment issues are hitting hard in the current state scenario and many eyeing for government jobs have become frustrated. It is high time that the mindset of employment should be changed to ease the way of life, he said. Avenues for employment are all around and we need to emphasis on what we are good at rather wasting resources on investing in what we are not good at, he stated. Three trainees of GITI also shared their experiences in the programme.   Wokha: World Youth Skills Day was celebrated at Government ITI, Wokha on July 15 with ADC, Wokha, Hotolu Swu as the chief guest.   Addressing during the programme the chief guest urged the instructors to be sincere and dedicated and help the trainees in order to become successful tradesmen for the benefit of the society.   Principal Government ITI Wokha, Er. N. Nyaksham Phom, who delivered the keynote address, emphasised on the mission objectives where the mission seeks to create an end-to- end implementation framework for skill development, which provides opportunities for lifelong learning that includes incorporation of skill, both long and short term skill trainings by providing career progression that meets the aspirations of trainees.   He also stressed on capacity building for skill development in critical un-organised sectors such as the construction sector, where there are few pathways for re-skilling up-skilling workers in these identified sectors, to enable them to transition into formal sector employment. The function was chaired by DEO, Wokha Zuthunglo. During the function best Trainee and Trainer namely Kesalhoukho Casavi and Mhonthung Y. Shitiri were awarded with certificate which was handed over by the chief guest.
