Yimjung Ola: Gospel album released

Morung Express News Mokokchung | February 13   A gospel music album titled - Yimjung Ola (Voice of Peace) – was released and dedicated by the principal of Clark Theological College (CTC) at Hotel Metsuben conference hall here on Friday in the presence of host of music lovers, youth leaders, and others.  

The album, which consists of eight songs, has been composed and sung by seven renowned singers of Mokokchung Town and recoded at Tribes Music & Media Lab, Dimapur.   The singers – Taliakum Pongen, Matang Mongro, Arsashi Ozukum, Tiameren Jamir, Imtiyanger, Chubanungla and Arenla Imsong – who are well known in Mokokchung and also in Nagaland, have been performing in different stages apart from the church platform.   Taliakum Pongen, while giving a brief highlight about the album, said that all the singers in the album share a deep love for music and they started singing from very young age. He said that the singers came together to produce a gospel album, but they also wanted to highlight the social issues that is affecting the society. They realised that peace is the most needed feature in Naga society and therefore decided to name the album ‘Yimjung Ola’.   The songs, which are all in Ao language, speak about depression, abortion, self-realization etc, said Taliakum. He further said that they want to spread the message through the album that everyone has a role to play, to be an instrument, when it comes to bringing and promoting peace in the society.   A short review of the album was presented by Temsu Jamir, proprietor of Mokokchung Channel, who presented a critical review of the songs, the song mixtures etc. He highly appreciated the creativity, the deep message contained in the lyrics, and the exceptional voices of the singers.   He predicted that the album will be a landmark in the development of music and musicians in Mokokchung and therefore encouraged everyone to buy the album so as to promote the album.
