DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 30 (MExN): The Power Department today informed that one 10 MVA transformer was successfully put into circuit in Dimapur on November 29.
“With this addition the load shedding schedule, currently imposed in Dimapur, will be eased to a limited extent as the capacity of 30 MVA now available is still only 50% of the total requirement,” a press note from the department informed.
It added that “earnest efforts are underway to further add to the capacity; but will fall short of the 60 MVA available prior to the two 20 MVA transformers being put out of service in the recent past.”
The department further informed that capacity addition is anticipated before Christmas sets in and will normalize power supply through the winter months. While appreciating the “restrain and co-operation of the consumers,” the department once again appealed to the public to bear the inconvenience “during this unfortunate turn of events and also utilize electric power judiciously.”
Power supply to Mon disrupted
Meanwhile, power supply to Mon district has been disrupted following the puncture of eight disc insulators along the 66KV Tuli-Naginimora Transmission line after it was struck by lightning on November 28.
A press note from the Mokokchung Transmission Department informed that restoration has been delayed as detection of punctured disc is time consuming. “The Department is working on a war footing,” the note informed, while assuring that power would be restored by December 1, provided the weather permits. The department further sought the patience of the consumers.
