The Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) is all set to conduct its 28th Senior & 3rd Under 16 Wrestling Meet 2024 on January 30 at Phek Town.
MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, leader NPF Legislature Party will grace the meet as the special guest.
The champion in senior category will get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh while 2nd place winner will be awarded with Rs 70,000.
The 3rd and 4th position will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. Quarter finalists will receive Rs 5000 each. The champion Under 16 category will get Rs 25,000 while 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will get Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Altogether, 70 wrestlers under Senior and 30 Under 16 category from Chepoketa, Khuza, Kutsapo, Kotisu, Kizari, Khutsokhuno, Tehephu, Losami (Losa Tephe), Miitsale, Khomi (Upper, Middle & Lower), Phek (Chosaba & Siirhoba), Phek Basa, Lozaphuhu (Lazezho), Sohomi, Satheri, Tezatse and Siithotsii, will vie for the coveted champion titles.

The prize donors under senior category includes; Er Khuvoyi Vese, Deputy Team Leader, Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission, Govt of Nagaland and Vechiso Chakhesang, Joint Director, Treasuries & Account, Govt of Nagaland (First Prize), Nüsheta Rhakho, Additional Secretary, Home Department, Govt of Nagaland and Er Razouvoyi Rhakho, JE Department of power Dimapur (Second Prize), Nukhochi Tetseo, Assistant Jailor Phek and Dr Shevosa Vese, Senior Medical Officer Phek (Third Prize), Keduhiwe Kapfo, Principal, Polytechnic Chetheba and Er Shepota Keyho, JE PWD (R&B), Phek Division (4th Prize).
Sheta Lohe, SDO North Kohima will sponsor prize for quarter finalists.
Velule Tureng, Deputy Commandant 5th NAP Phek will sponsor 1st prize for Under 16 Category. 2nd prize by Kedukhahi Akami entrepreneur, 3rd prize by Dr Kewecho Akami, MS (General Category) and 4th prize by Er Nuhiito Nienu, SO PWD (R&B) Phek.
Sanjeev Sharma will sponsor track suit and T. Shirt & Cap by Dr Pfopelou Kepfo, dental surgeon, Vezoto Medeo, Supervisor CDPO Phek and Er Nuthozo Hoshi, SDO, Power Kiphire.

Business hour on Jan 29
There will be business hour on January 29 at PTC Hall at 12:00 noon. Referee clinic will take place on the same day at 2:00 pm. All the units have been asked to submit wrestlers list and profile to PAWA on or before January 20.
Hukhoniye Soho, Convenor, Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board will be the chief referee. He will be assisted by Hüvesü Puro, Surhoneyi Soho, Kuzhoniecho Keyho, Verayi Tenenu, Shezopa Dzudo, Kuhi Mekrisuh, Vechizo Khamo and Shevota Rhakho.
PAWA president Khüsüzo Khamo will deliver presidential address at the inaugural function at 9:00 AM while PAWA technical secretary Surhoneyi Soho will administer oath to the wrestlers.
The meet will be managed by Phek Surhoba village.
