KOHIMA, April 28 (MExN): A total of 1000 delegates from the four Angami ranges will be joining the Ao Nagas during this year’s Moatsü festival celebration in Mokokchung on May 2.
This decision was taken following the invitation extended by the Ao Senden to the Angamis, led by the Angami Public Organisation, its apex body, to attend the Moatsü festival, informed a press release issued by the publicity committee, specifically set up by APO for the festival.
“The APO always respects and honours the traditional and cultural practices of the Nagas. Likewise, the APO has graciously accepted the invitation of the Ao Senden to celebrate the Moatsü festival with them,” the release said.
The APO, while appreciating the Ao Senden for inviting the Angamis to their premier festival, expressed hope that the goodwill initiative of the Ao Nagas will go a long way in promoting unity and friendship among the Nagas, it added.
The delegates will depart at 4 AM from Kohima Local Ground on May 2 and the the members from the APO and its frontal organisations including Angami Youth Organisation, Angami Students’ Union, Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho, Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho, Angami Sorts Association, Western Angami Public Organisation and Southern Angami Public Organisation have been requested to assemble at the starting point prior ahead of time. The departure point for members of Northern Angami Public Organisation is at Botsa at 5 AM, while the departure point for members of Chakhroma Public Organisation is at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, it added. It further informed that all the delegates will assemble at Alichen in Mokokchung, wherein, the delegates will be given time to dress-up. For those taking part in the cultural items, time will also be given to them for rehearsal at Alichen, it added. Meanwhile, the publicity committee, on behalf of APO, has requested all the delegates to dress well in their traditional attires, while the delegates have also been directed to refrain from use of alcohol on that day. The APO also fervently appealed all the Angamis residing in and around Mokokchung and neighbouring districts to take part in the celebration.
