Kohima, October 6 (MExN): Kohima Police manning Phesama check gate recovered 1000 kg of contraband ganja worth Rs. 50 lakh in the national market from a Dimapur bound truck bearing registration number NL01K-5910 on October 6 around 6:00 am. The recovery was made during routine checking and frisking of vehicles.
The contraband ganja which was neatly packed in 61 packets of 20 kgs, 10 kgs and 5 kgs was found concealed inside a special compartment of the truck’s body especially designed for transporting illegal consignments, stated a press release from Atu Zumvü, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South) & PRO, Kohima.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Duh Peter (21) and his accomplice Hrüyio (20) were taken into police custody. During interrogation, the driver revealed that the consignment was loaded from Mao and he was assured Rs. 10,000/- for transporting it to Dimapur, the release stated.
In this connection, a regular case vide Kohima South P.S Case No. 0058/2017 U/S 20 (b)(ii)(C) NDPS Act has been registered against them for conducting further investigation.
