The introductory meeting and adoption of 102 and 103 main report of the Committee on Government Assurances (2023-24) of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) took place in Kohima on April 27 last.

The meeting was chaired by the committee chairman, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.

Other members who attended the meeting included G. Ikuto Zhimomi, A. Pangung Jamir, Temjenmenba and Naiba Konyak. Those from NLA secretariat side included; Khruohituonuo Rio (Secretary-in-Charge), Jenny Ndang (Addl. Secretary I), Kedovino Peseyie (Joint Secretary), Alamle Sephe (Under Secretary), K. Nivishe Shohe (Section Officer)  and  Vakranino Vincy (Assistant Section Officer).

Azo thanked NLA speaker Sharingain Longkumer for nominating him as the chairman of Committee on Government Assurances.

Azo impressed upon the members on the importance of the committee, which act as a watchdog over the functioning of the various Departments.

He also sought full co-operation and support of the members and requested them to pro-actively participate in the forthcoming meetings for the smooth and effective functioning of the committee.

Meanwhile, the committee decided to have Oral Evidence Meeting with the Departmental Representatives of 11 Departments on May 19.

The departments includes Health & Family Welfare, Works & Housing, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Civil Administrative Works Department, Public Health Engineering, Home, School Education, Nagaland Public Works Department, Justice & Law, Fire & Emergency Services and Higher &Technical Education.
