Kohima, January 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) is holding its 10th Convention under the theme, "Women Builders of Bridge" from January 18 -20 at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima.
The three day convention entered day two on January 19, stated a press release from Max Marius Khieya (citizen journalist).
Rev Deacon Dr Sherman Kuek OFS from Malaysia was the speaker for the 1st session who enlightened the attendees about the actual meaning and importance of the Eucharist.
Vilanuo Angela, President Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) while delivering her presidential address expressed happiness and thanked the delegates and guests for coming to pray together, to share the joy and to experience their way of worship.
Meanwhile, Rev Fr Richard Fernandes, Spiritual Director NCWA assured of prayers while extending his greetings. Earlier, Inaholi Mary President Sumi Catholic Women Association (SCWA) read from the Holy Book; welcome speech was given by Ahieno Janet, President Angami Catholic Women Association (ACWA).
A special number was presented by Lotha Catholic Women Association (LCWA) choir and benediction was pronounced by Teresa Ezung , President of LCWA. Rev Sr Mary Dukhru dealt with the topic, "Women Builders of Peace," while Rev Sr Margaret Sekhose, MSMHC spoke on the topic, "Women in the Social Media and Education" during the 2nd and 3rd session respectively on Saturday .
On day-two, the choir singing competition was held where ACWA emerged as the winner. Pochury Catholic Women Association, Holy Cross Dimapur and Rengma Catholic Women Association bagged the second, third and fourth position respectively.
Kaholi Lilly, Vice President NCWA and Elsy Peter, President Catholic Women Association, Kiphiri Parish chaired the sessions; Mercy Konyak, Secretary Konyak Catholic Women Association (KCWA) and Atipuei, President Zeliangrong Catholic Women Association (ZCWA) read the Words of God.
The NCWA convention will culminate on Sunday with a Eucharistic celebration where Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima will preside over the Holy Mass. Dr Sherman will speak on during the last session and an adoration and healing service will be held with Rev Fr Avilhou Stephen, MSFS.
About 1065 delegates were registered on day two from different parishes in Nagaland including Jalpaiguri Diocese, West Bengal and Cuttack Bubaneshwar Diocese, Odisha. Juliet Ramamurthy, President, Council of Catholic Women of India (CCWI), Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) and others are also attending the three-day convention hosted by ACWA, Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima.
