The prestigious 10th NI Jamir Academic Excellence Award 2016 was conferred to seven HSLC examination 2016 toppers (Top 20) from Ao community here today at Molu Ki, Kohima. The programme was organized by Ongpangkong Telongjem Kohima (OTK).
Guest speaker I. Meyionen, director & DIGP, vigilance & anti-corruption, Nagaland urged the students to be outstanding through hard work, self-belief, confidence and clear vision.
Meyionen further congratulated the recipients of the award while lauding the family of N.I Jamir for instituting the award. He gave away the award to the recipients which carried Rs. 10,000 each along with certificates.
Speaking on behalf N.I Jamir’s family, adviser to Chief Minister, Merentoshi R. Jamir urged youngsters to give back to the society and awardees to be responsible by setting an example. Pointing out that government job has reached saturation point, he advised the gathering to venture into entrepreneurship, business and private sector, as an option for employment. The adviser also asked to avail opportunity for business and entrepreneurship offered by government. He also underlined that education is not only studying but also to inculcate work culture.
Er. Talituba Sanglir, president Kohima Ao Telongjem also exhorted the gathering. The programme was chaired by OTK president N. Abong Pongener while vote of thanks was proposed by OTK general secretary Panger Atsongchanger.
