111 BSF Battalion observes Police Commemoration Day

Zunheboto, October 22 (MExN): 111 BSF Battalion organized various activities in run up to the Police Commemoration Day from October 16-21.  

As the part of the scheduled programme, a senior officer of 111 Bn BSF visited martyrs’ homes and schools.  

On October 16, the officer visited Kitami Village, Zunheboto District native village of martyr Late CT Nikhato Sema from 137 Bn BSF who attained martyrdom on July 5, 1999 and handed over token to the family of the martyr at a function in Goverment High School, Asugiqa, Zunheboto district.  

The officer addressed the students and narrated the story of the martyr.  

On October 17, the officer also visited the home of two martyrs Late HC Khuniho Sema and Late KT Khehoto Sema who attained martyrdom in 1989 defending CI Post Laniye Bridge.  

He visited the Govt. Middle School, South Point East, Zunheboto District and addressed the School assembly and gave away token in the presence of Gaon Bura and the relatives of martyr.  

Late HC Khunito Sema of Hokiya village, Late L/NK S. Muno Khemenger of Thangnyuking village Nokiak districtwere among others was also honoured during the occassion.   BSF martyrs marathon was conducted at 111 Bn BSF, Satakha campus on October 21 with 141 participants.  

The officiating commandant Nitin Gupta, 2IC 111 BN BSF addressed the gathering and silent prayer was attributed to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice for the nation.
