11th Nagaland state chess challenger 2011 underway

Kohima | April 26 : The 11th Nagaland State Chess Challenger 2011 and 3rd Under 16 years under the aegis of Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) got underway here today at the Red Cross building. Chess enthusiasts from Kohima, Dimapur, Phek, Zunheboto, Wokha and Peren are taking part in the four-day long tournament, which will conclude on April 30.
The tournament is being organized by Axis Bank, Kohima senior manager, Nikato Yeputhomi. In his speech, he termed chess as a game of tactics coupled with calculated moves, which involves all possible combinations and choices that enhance one’s ability in logic and making the right decision. Chess is not a capital intensive sports that require big infrastructure; and wherein size and strength does not matter but it’s all about discipline, patience and an always ready-to-learn approach. Take the game as a profession with passion, zeal and a will to win, he added.
Earlier, NCA general secretary Lhokiye Yeputhomi delivered welcome address. Takomanen & Kitoi presented special number while vote of thanks was proposed by NCA joint secretary Pele Khezhie.
