11th Sumi Hoho Trophy kicks off

N. Kitovi Zhimomi Ato Kilonser, GPRN/NSCN declaring the 11th Sumi Hoho Trophy Open at P Vizheto Village on February 12.

Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): The 11th Sumi Hoho Trophy kicked off today at P. Vizheto Village with 16 teams presenting all Sumi areas taking part in the competition.


Oganised by Sumi Games and Sports Association and hosted by Niuland Area Sports Association, the 8-day long was declared open by N Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser, GPRN/NSCN who graced the inaugural ceremony as special guest.


Hekhushe Aye Shikhu, president, Sumi Hoho will grace the closing ceremony as guest house honour.


Speaking on the occasion Kitovi said games and sports is a platform through which there can be peace, integrity and prosperity in the society and called upon the participants to be sincere and committed to strive for excellence and thereby bring laurel to the society.


He also encouraged SGSA to continue to put in effort to tap the potential of the young people and promote them to higher level of competitions.


Expressing sincere desire for the betterment of Naga people he called upon all sections of the society to work and in hand.


Zheshito Swu, president, Western Sumi Hoho also exhorted the gathering while president of Sumi Games and Sports Association, P Akihito Zhimomi delivered presidential address.


P. Vizheto Tuccu, head GB of the host village welcomed the dignitaries and participating teams. The opening ceremony was chaired by Kiyeka Sumi, general secretary, SGSA and Shiholi Futhena, assistant games and sports secretary, SGSA.


The opening ceremony also featured folk songs and dances, and traditional martial arts.
