Kohima | June 6
A day after the ‘pre-arrest bail’ of six members were regularised in connection with the demolition of the Naga Students Federation (NSF) office on May 27, 12 other functionaries of the Naga Club were granted interim anticipatory bail by the Gauhati High Court on June 6.
The functionaries had filed applications seeking for pre-arrest bail in connection with the First Information Report (FIR) complaint filed by the NSF in the North Police Station, Kohima on May 27 alleging that its ‘office premise and building has been damaged on the early hours of May 27 by unknown miscreants.’
After hearing the applications on June 6, the single bench of Justice Kakheto Sema granted the interim pre-arrest bail with various conditions in identical orders issued separately for all the 12 applicants.
In the order, the applicants were directed to appear before the Officer in-charge, North Police Station, Kohima/the Investigating Officer of the case within 5 days period.
‘In the event of arrest of the applicant by the Police, the applicant (s) shall be released on executing a bail bond of Rs. 20,000 with one surety of the like amount,’ it said.
The order further stipulated that the applicant(s) shall appear before the OC, North Police Station, Kohima/Investigating Officer “as and when summoned” and further cooperate with the Police in the investigation of the case.
The applicants were also directed not to “indulge in similar or same offence” with which there are charged.
“Violation of any of the conditions above shall lead to automatic cancellation of the interim bail,” the order stated, listing the matter for further hearing on June 15.
