As of May 31, a total of 13, 02, 957 Aadhaar cards were generated in Nagaland as per data provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha.
The figure is about 65.85% of the total population as per the 2011 Census.
The Minister was replying to a question regarding the total number of Aadhaar cards issued in the country.
Overall, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has generated a total of 123.82 crore Aadhaar to the residents of the country, informed the reply from MeitY Ravi Shankar Prasad. In 2018-19, a total of Rs 1182.08 crore was spent on the process, while Rs 30.32 crore has been incurred upto May 2019, it added.
Regarding the association of private player in the process of “issuance of Aadhaar cards,” the Ministry replied that, “It has on-boarded agencies / manpower as required to carry the functions mandated to UIDAI under the Act and Regulations thereon.”
