PEREN, NOVEMBER 9 (MExN): The 13th edition of the Peren District Legislator’s Trophy Tournament commenced on November 9 at the Peren Town local ground. The event was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner Peren, Keyirangding Hegui as the special guest, a DIPR report stated.
During his speech at the inaugural, Hegui commended the efforts of the event organizers and the pioneers for their unwavering dedication to promoting sports and nurturing young talents in the district.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the association and extended warm greetings to the PDFRA (Peren District Football Referee Association) as it celebrated its 25th anniversary. Hegui encouraged the audience to cultivate social consciousness and emphasize social contributions.
He also urged the youth to refrain from the use of drugs and alcohol, emphasizing their negative impact on society. Additionally, he congratulated all the participating teams representing various villages in the district and officially declared the tournament open.
Earlier in the day, the special guest unveiled the PDFRA 25th anniversary monolith which was followed by a dedicatory prayer led by Dr Rampaukupoing, ZBCC (Zeme Baptist Church Council) Executive Secretary.
The formal program was hosted by Ngautube Chamlak, while Earnest Sephe, Peren District Football Association (PDFA) president, delivered the welcome address. ADC Peren, Keyirangding Hegui, released the tournament’s souvenir. The lighting of the tournament torch was executed by Imsolung of Puiteing FC, 2018 best player. The special guest concluded the proceedings by officially declaring the tournament open.
