13th Lotha Football Championship commences

The 13th Lotha Football Championship begins today at Public Ground, Wokha organised by Wokha District Football Association with Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr Zuben Kikon gracing the opening ceremony as the special guest.

In his address, Dr Zuben Kikon lauded the players for their showing enthusiasm towards sports. He stated that sports is not just as seasonal but can be opted as a potential profession and encouraged them to progress professionally in sports.

He discussed on the importance of honesty, integrity, and strong moral principles. He also addressed that engagement in sports will help in cultivating good manners such as to be polite.

He added that the key trait of a good sportsmanship is having respect for opponents. He concluded his speech by advising the participants to take the opportunity in showcasing their talent through this tournament and make it a memorable match. 

The programme was chaired by Libenthung Ovung, invocation by V Yentsao Ezung, welcome address by WTFA President N Samuel Ezung and pledge of players was pronounced by Athungo Erui.

The match began with the chief guest kicking off the match. The first match was played between Friends Club and Young Brothers XI.

1st Match: Friends Club Wokha Village- 4 & Young Brothers- 2
2nd Match: Titans XI Pangti -1 & Lower Senchum FC-1
3rd Match: Airfield FC -4 & Tchuyiro FC -2
