
JALUKIE, JANUARY 23 (MExN): The 13th edition of the New Jalukie Inter-Block Tournament commenced on Tuesday at New Jalukie local ground under the theme “Strive for Excellence, Embrace Success.”
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Masang Hiekha, President, Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation and PRO to Deputy Chief Minister cautioned the youths to stay away from drugs and substance abuses, stating that “Drugs are faceless and only robs away our tomorrow and hamper the life purposes of an individual.”
Emphasizing the significance of sports, he challenged the youth to take advantage of the turf ground at New Market Jalukie to focus on sports with full commitment and dedication, competing with others even at state and national level as well. Appreciating the cordial nature of the New Jalukie Villagers he encouraged the present generation to contemplate and appreciate the sacrifices of the pioneers and the elders.
New Jalukie was once a vast remote swath area with few shelters, now with a booming population and the immense scope for development it has become one of the most potential village in Jalukie, he said.
Welcome note and short speech was delivered by Aphun Gonmei, Convenor Tournament Board and Liangkebo, VCC New Jalukie respectively. Oath taking was led by Laloureiyang Panmei.
