The 13th NPBCAYD Triennial Convention commenced today under the theme "Experiencing God Together," based on Acts 2:42-47. Hosted by the Police Baptist Church, Wokha, the convention will run until 13th October, with esteemed speakers including Rev. Dr. H. A. Zhimomi, Executive Secretary of NPBCA, Zanbemo Kithan, Pastor Yikhum Baptist Church, and Tsenbemo R. Ngullie, Youth Secretary of NPBCA.
24 churches from various parts of the state participated in the event.
In his address, Tsenbemo R. Ngullie expressed gratitude to the PBC Wokha for hosting the convention and extended thanks to the Wokha DEF for their support throughout the preparation.
Delivering an inspiring message on the theme “Experiencing God Together”, he emphasised that we are gathered to experience God’s love. He remarked on the power of the tongue, noting that it can either build or destroy both ourselves and those around us. He stressed the significant impact of our words on our lives and our communities.
Ngullie cautioned that thoughtless words can harm a community, while the same tongue can be used to spread goodness and heal others. He urged attendees to reflect on whether they are using their tongues in both ways, stating that it is time for self-examination as one cannot serve both good and bad.
He explained that the words we speak originate from our hearts, which are the source of life. Therefore, it is essential to cultivate a pure and clean heart to ensure our speech is also pure. He called for determination in cleansing our hearts and discipline in controlling our tongues, advocating for silence in certain situations and the avoidance of evil speech.
He also highlighted the need for intentional discipline, encouraging truthful speech expressed with love. He urged the audience to fill their minds with positivity, explaining that just as we talk about those we love, we should also speak about God with the same affection. He concluded by acknowledging that while we will face life's struggles, our approach to speaking can shape our experiences.
