14 people who returned to Longleng on May 19 have been quarantined

 

DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): The Longleng district COVID-19 Task force along with district administration, police, village guards, NGOs and Civil societies welcomed the first arrival of 14 stranded person from different states of the country to Longleng town on May 19 at around 12:15 am.

 

After completing necessary screening and registration, the returnees were taken to the quarantine center at Phom Lempong school.

 

Deputy Commissioner, M Shayung Phom acknowledged the voluntary service and assistance rendered by Phom Baptism Christian Association especially the women’s wing, the Phomla Hoichem and its unit and Longleng Town Students union (LTSU) who volunteered to cook, serve and deliver food for the returnees, security personnel, health worker and drivers during the quarantine period. The DTF has also tied up with NSRLM Longleng for procurement of fresh vegetables.

 

Meanwhile the DC informed that visits from family/friends/relatives or any other person other than the authorised personnel is strictly prohibited.

 

Necessary action will be initiated against those falling to comply with the order under section 188 of the Indian penal code, the DC added.

 

Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Longleng, Dr Lhouvizotuo Belho has issued an official order informing  that "no operation will be taken up in the district hospital Longleng unless complete screening and tasting for COVID-19 is done till further order.”
