1.53 crores for BRGF approved

Kiphire, August 11 (DIPR): The Kiphire DPDB meeting was held on August 5 at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, under the chairmanship of Chairman of DPDB Kiphire and NSMDC, C Kipili Sangtam.

The Local Area Development Schemes for 59 A/C Sitimi, Seyochung, and 60 A/C Pungro, Kiphire, and the Common Pool 2009-10 were approved. The proposals for the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) 2008-09 amounting to Rs.1.53 crore was approved and recommended. It was agreed that for the Road Show at Kiphire scheduled to be held on September 2 and 3, 2009, more funds would be sought from the authority as Kiphire is the farthest district from the capital and essential commodities are costlier than in the other districts.

Deputy Commissioner and vice-chairman of the Kiphire DPDB congratulated Kipili Sangtam on behalf of the Board for being appointed as the new chairman of Kiphire DPDB and expressed hope that under the leadership of the new chairman the board will achieve success and more developmental works in the district. Eight officers were introduced as new Board members and include Functional Manager for DIC Kiphire Khrinyicho Sangtam, CDPO Pungro, Z Tsankhuchu, Headmaster of GHS Kiphire, Therise Veko, DVO Dr. Viral Yove, EAC Moakumzuk Tzudir, SDPO for Kiphire, Joseph, EAC Khomsa, Achila, and CDPO for Sitimi, Zubemo.

Kipili Sangtam expressed his hope that the same cooperation of the board given to his predecessor would continue for the betterment of Kiphire. He said that Kiphire is an infant district and still has many things to do and called upon the members to be sincere and regular and at the same time cautioned the members not to hesitate to take action against any defaulting officers. He also instructed the members to apply to the DC for station leave and expressed his thanks to the officers who were “posted in a place like Kiphire” to serve the people.

Reviewing the last meeting minutes with regard to water supply at Kiphire town, the EE, PHED, expressed his inability to execute improvement works for want of funds. He assured that sufficient water would be made available during the forthcoming Road Show scheduled to be held on September 2 and 3, 2009. With regard to demarcation of the Anganwadi Centre at Kiphire town, the CDPO Kiphire informed the board that the demarcation of area for Anganwadi Centre needs to be done after close study and scrutiny by the Anganwadi board. The board entrusted the CDPO to work out the modalities with the chairman of Kiphire Town Council and submit his ‘action taken report’ during the next DPDB meeting.

With regard to application for upgradation of Elpeth School and Good Shepherd School in Kiphire, the board observed the schools’ criteria and recommended the cases to the authority concerned. The board also recommended the upgradation of the GMS at Yankyamthi, Kiphire town, to GHS.
