The 15th edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2022 got underway at Multi-Purpose sports complex, Mokokchung, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) on September 20.

In a brief function, the inaugural patron, N Jamonger Ao, Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Mokokchung, said that events such as the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy keeps Mokokchung alive and vibrant. He congratulated the MDVA for organizing such a prestigious trophy. He encouraged the players from the 18 participating teams to seize the moment, to shine and enjoy their time and to stay pro-active in all fields be it social or sports activities. He concluded by saying that Mokokchung District is the factory of Volleyball players in Nagaland.

A total of 18 teams are participating in the trophy with teams from VK town, Tuensang, Kohima and Mokokchung. The trophy will conclude on September 23.  The first match was played between Shipu Sporting Club, Sungkomen and Kumlong Sporting Association A.

Earlier, Lakhi Longkumer, Member, organizing committee, gave the welcome address while the oath taking ceremony was initiated by Imkongsanen, player from the Changtongya Volleyball Association, the defending champions.
