PUNGRO, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): The 15th Saramati Soccer Championship, themed 'Revitalizing Sports,' commenced today with Er Suralo, Executive Engineer, Department of Power, Tuensang gracing the inaugural session as special guest. Altogether 11 teams are competing for the coveted trophy.
Speaking at the inaugural, Er Suralo emphasized the transformative power of sports, touching upon aspects of livelihood, empowerment, and recognition. Advocating for a broadened perspective on sports, he urged the audience to appreciate diverse disciplines, including archery, running races, boxing, rifle shooting, and others.
Highlighting the global stature of sports personalities, he noted that today's renowned and wealthiest individuals often hail from the world of sports. The special guest underscored government initiatives like Khelo India, fostering young talents and enabling their entry into the international sports arena. Er Suralo also stressed on the paramount importance of discipline for any team aspiring to triumph.
The program was anchored by Lakhum and Tsukhumcha, invocation by Tsuyihba, Pastor Pungro Town Baptist Church, keynote address presented by Throngso Yimkhiung, Vice President Saramati Nexus Club. A song was also presented on the theme 'Revitalizing Sports' by Tsukhenthong and group. The tournament will conclude on December 16.
