Chozuba, November 26 (MExN): The District Administration, Department of Social Welfare-under Mission Shakti, SANKALP - District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Sakhi - One Stop Centre, Phek in collaboration with Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission Sekrezu Block and Women Society Chozuba Town and Chozuba village observed the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women and Launching of 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence at Chozuba village council hall on November 25.

A solidarity walk followed by a formal programme was held with an invocation pronounced by Kuvolu Ringa Women President, Chozuba area.

Speaking on the theme, “Unite to End Violence against Women” Dr Diana Patton, NCS, ADC Chozuba mentioned that, violence is not only physical but it also occurs in different forms, emotional and financial abused also violence. ADC opined on three important points that every daughter should be imparted in their life, education, financial independent and etiquettes so that when she grew up she will understand her rights. 

Jitsiasa Nyusou, Centre Administrator, Sakhi-OSC Phek, highlighted on the overview cases against Gender Based Violence (under Phek District) where a short video on “Awareness Campaign for Victims of Domestic Violence” was played.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Jopokuyi Nyekha, Office Assistant, Sakhi-OSC. Vezovolu Lohe, Ex Women President, Chozuba Area pronounced the Benediction. The programme was chaired by Vileno K. Thisa, District Coordinator SANKALP- DHEW, Phek.
