17,157 returnees arrived in Nagaland

A total of 17,157 returnees have arrived in the state from different parts of the country and abroad as of July 5. Para military and army personnel have not been included in the tally.


This was informed by Agriculture Production Commissioner, Y Kikheto Sema, during a press conference in Dimapur on Sunday.

 

Kikheto who was given the charge of Dimapur In-charge for COVID-19 activities earlier in April was relieved of the duty on July 4 “on successful completion of mandate.”


Out of the total returnees, 6,800 of them arrived by special trains, 4,312 by normal trains, 2,723 by flights, 2,212 by buses, 612 by other vehicles and 498 from Kohima side. Kikheto informed that a maximum of 500 returnees were expected to arrive Dimapur by a special train from Bengaluru on July 9.


With this, he said more than 95% of the total returnees would have arrived the state. “So there should not be much problem in handling the situation and I wish all the frontline warriors the best,” he added.

 

50 QCs with 1202 residents
He also informed that till late night of July 4, there were 1,202 residents in 50 quarantine centres in Dimapur, with 601 returnees each in the 25 institutional quarantine centres and 25 paid quarantine centres, he added.

 

Ganeshnagar QC closed
It was also informed that the Ganeshnagar quarantine centre was closed on July 5 since all the returnees have been released and accommodated in hotels in Dimapur.

 

195 returnees have completed 14 days
Kikheto said that as of July 4, there were 195 returnees who have completed 14 days or more in quarantine centres. Out of this, 74 persons have completed 21 days, 111 have completed 18 days, and 10 of them have completed 15 days.
