Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): The 173 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised Civic Action Programmes in Dimapur and Chümoukedima on Thursday, distributing essential utility items to local residents as part of efforts to strengthen police-public relations and promote community welfare.
The programmes were held at A/173 Bn CRPF Transit Camp near the DC Court in Dimapur and at the Battalion Camping Site (BCS Land) at Chümoukedima village.
The initiatives aimed to provide essential utility assets to rural households to improve daily living conditions and support rural infrastructure, with the welfare drives planned to maximise their reach and impact in remote areas.
In Dimapur, N Longshithung Ezung, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Dimapur, attended as the chief guest. Phyobemo Odyuo, Councillor, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC); head GB L D Angami of Razhuphe village; K Imtiwati Ao, Council Member; and Kunato Sema, Council Member, Industrial Village, Razhuphe, were also present.
During the programme, the chief guest and other dignitaries formally handed over Sintex water tanks to beneficiaries. The initiative was specifically aimed at addressing the immediate need for safe water storage in the targeted areas.
The distribution directly benefited around 85 families from Razhuphe village, Industrial Village, Hill View Colony and the DC Court area, providing relief to residents, particularly in view of water scarcity issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Ezung lauded the efforts of the 173 Bn CRPF for its continued endeavour to serve society beyond its security duties and for fostering goodwill and trust among the local population.
At Chümoukedima, E Company and G Company of the 173 Bn CRPF jointly conducted distribution camps as part of the civic action programme.
Khriengunuo Theunuo, Extra Assistant Commissioner, DC Office, Chümoukedima, attended the programme as the special guest.
Solar lamps and Sintex water tanks were formally handed over to residents of Chümoukedima village and surrounding areas. The initiative was aimed at addressing immediate energy and water-storage requirements in the targeted areas.
The items were handed over to beneficiaries by Theunuo, K Ezung, Assistant Commandant, G/173 Bn CRPF, and Ramanand Chauhan, Assistant Commandant, E/173 Bn CRPF, at the BCS Land, Chümoukedima.
The distribution benefited dozens of recipients by providing sustainable lighting solutions and water-storage facilities. Local village leaders and residents expressed gratitude to the 173 Bn CRPF and the civil administration for their continued commitment to public welfare.
