18th Imchaba Master Open Volleyball Tourney from Oct 21

Mokokchung, October 17 (MExN): Nagaland’s volleyball fraternity is set for an electrifying four-day competition as the 18th Imchaba Master Open Volleyball Tournament 2025 gets underway from October 21 to 24 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The tournament, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), will see 14 elite teams from across the state vying for the title.

District heavyweights from Kohima, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and host Mokokchung will clash in what promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet, featuring a mix of established champions and rising darkhorses.

Reigning champions MH10 from Kohima will look to defend their crown with a refreshed lineup. Coach S. Tali Imchen said, “We’ve inducted two fresh spikers to inject new fire into our attack. The squad’s deep in intense prep mode—ready to grind for another title run.”

Challengers Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) have also restructured their side with a blend of veterans and new players. General Secretary Meyitiba stated, “We’re mixing fresh faces with our seniors, giving the young guns a shot to shine brighter than last year. This revamp could propel us past our previous performance.”

Adding further excitement to the tournament, Chienino Brothers from Kiruphema village, Kohima, will make their return after a year’s absence, fielding both Junior and Senior teams. Team representative Rokvizo Dahou said, “All local talents from Kiruphema—we’re here to flaunt our skills, outdo our 2023 semifinal heartbreak, and snatch that glory with unyielding zeal.” Known as Kohima’s “Volleyball Capital,” Kiruphema’s return adds a strong legacy presence to the lineup.

The official fixture draw, conducted on October 17 at the residence of the MDVA Treasurer, has divided the teams into four pools:

Pool A: MH10 Kohima, Chienino Brothers Kiruphema (A), Longsa Sporting Club Mokokchung, Shikaho Memorial Club (SMC) Akuluto
