A total of 193 candidates are in the fray for February 27 Nagaland polls for 59 Assembly Constituencies.
One candidate of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and three-time Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio was declared elected unopposed from 11th Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency under Kohima district.
Naga People’s Front (NPF) has fielded the highest number of candidates with 57, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party – 38, National People’s Party – 25, Bharatiya Janata Pary – 20, Indian National Congress – 18, Janata Dal (United) – 13, Nationalist Congress Party – 6, Aam Aadmi Party – 3, Lok Janshakti Party – 2 and Independents – 11.
Out of the 60 seats of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, one seat, Dimapur-I, is open for general candidate, while all the remaining 59 seats are reserved for ST candidates.
Vote counting will be done on March 3, while the entire process of election has to be completed by March 5.
Assembly constituency with highest, lowest electorates
The assembly constituency with highest electorate is 4-Ghaspani-I with 65, 643 voters (32605 male and 33,038 female).
The assembly constituency with lowest electorate is 27-Mokokchung Town with 7129 voters (3539 male and 3590 female).
Polling station with lowest electorate is 64-Kiuro under 60-Pungro-Kiphire A/C with 33 voters (20 male and 13 female).
Polling station with highest electorate is 57-Chumukedima BI-III S/W under 4-Ghaspani-I A/C with 1364 voters (659 male and 705 female).
