Peren, December 27 (MExN): The four-day long 19th Beisumpuikam Village Cultural cum Sports Meet began under the theme “Building Peace through Sports” at Beisumpuikam Village local ground on December 27. 

President of Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation, and PRO to Dy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, Masangum Hiekha graced the occasion as the inaugural guest. 

In his address, Masangum emphasised the importance of promoting peace and empowering youths through sports and culture, and urged the youths to abstain from drug and substance abuse. He also encouraged the gathering to use their mobile phones responsibly, as they have both positive and negative impacts. Masangum also highlighted the objectives of JVYO, which aims to uplift the youth in various aspects, particularly in sports. He commended the participating teams and urged them to exhibit good sportsmanship. The president was accompanied by the advisory board and executives of JVYO along with friends and well wishers. 

The inaugural ceremony was compered by Beisumpuikam Students’ Union Vice President, Midayile Newme while traditional howling and traditional dance was presented by Block C and A respectively. Keynote was addressed Board Chairman, Pingkham Disuang and oath taking was administered by Game Secretary, Liatui newme. Invocation was pronounced by Beisumpuikam Baptist Church Pastor, Hanggam Disuang.
