Rising Star Mizoram to face Asufu CI Senapati in opening match

The 19th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2018 under the aegis of Angami Students’ Union (ASU) will kick start from September 22 at Kohima Local Ground (Khuochiezie).  

Rising Star, Mizoram will clash with Asufu CI, Senapati in the opening match at 2:00pm.  

With the theme “Goal for Peace,” this tournament is an annual feature in honour and in remembrance of Late Kekuojalie Sachu of Kohima village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema village, who were victims during police firing on March 20, 1986.  

The tragedy occurred during a peaceful NSF protest against the state government’s decision to the extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5km to 20kmalong the Indo-Myanmar Border and also against the induction of Indian Police Service cadres into the state of Nagaland.  

PWD minister Tongpang Ozukum will grace the inaugural function as special invitee.  

Altogether, 47th teams form Kohima, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Phek, Mizoram and Manipur will vie for the coveted champion title, which will go on till October 20.  

The organizing committee has extended invitation to all the victims of 20 March 1986 incident, ASU formers office bearers, well wishers, schools and colleges in and around Kohima to the inaugural function.  

All the team managers and coaches are required to report at the ground for technical briefing at 10.30 AM sharp on September 22.  

Solidarity message will be delivered by NSF President, Kesosul Christopher Ltu, while organizing committee convenor, Voto Neikha will deliver the welcome address.  

The inaugural function will be chaired by ASU president, Visako Rino while ASU games & sports secretary Meguo Ratsa will administer oath to the teams.  

Entry ticket for spectators has been fixed at Rs. 30 till the initial rounds and Rs. 50 from quarter-finals.  

According to the organizing committee, students in uniforms after the normal school hours, senior citizens and persons with disabilities would be given free entry.

Champion: Rs. 2.00 lakh

Runner- Up: Rs. 1,20,000

Semi finalists: Rs. 30,000 each

Quarter finalists: Rs 15,000 each

Player of the Tournament: Scooty

Best custodian: Rs. 10,000

Best Midfielder: Rs. 10,000

Best Defender: Rs. 10,000

Highest Scorer: Rs. 10,000
