The Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) today conducted its 1st Centre Chakhesang Cultural Day at Middle Khomi Local Ground in Phek district.

Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Veyielo Doulo, Additional Director, Department of Tourism, Nagaland, called upon the youth to love and help each other and grow together. He also said that the spirit of oneness will be an impossible task if there is no love among the people. Love and build up each other, socially, educationally and economically, he said.

Talking on the CCSA motto ‘Unity is strength,’ he called upon the youth to stay united and strive for progress and peaceful society. He also called upon the people to preserve forest and wildlife. Doulo urged upon the younger generation to know their root and the rich culture and tradition of the Nagas.

Highlighting the enormous prospect of tourism industry in the state, Doulo encouraged the villagers to foray into tour operators, tourist guide and home stay facilities. He also assured capacity building programme on tourism packages for the youth at Middle Khomi soon.

Further, he invited the educated employed youth to apply for diploma courses in food, beverages, hospitality and hotel administration at the State Institute of Hotel Management, Dimapur. It would facilitate job placement in the star hotels in the country, he said.

Seven villages Porba, Sakraba, Pholami, Gidemi, Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi and Upper Khomi joined the event and competed in duet, indigenous war cry, traditional fire making, folk dance, tug of war, and greased pole climbing.

In duet, Middle Khomi, Porba and Upper Khomi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively; War Cry: 1st-Porba, 2nd-Lower Khomi and 3rd Upper Khomi; Traditional Fire Making:1st- Porba; Folk Dance: 1st- Gidemi, 2nd-Sakraba and 3rd-Middle Khomi; Tug of War (Men): 1st-Upper Khomi and 2nd-Middle Khomi; Tug of War (Women): 1st- Porba, 2nd-Sakraba; Greased Pole Climbing: 1st: Sakraba, 2nd- Polami and 3rd- Upper Khomi.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by CCSA Vice President Vesuto D Vadeo while CCSA President Veposu Nienu delivered welcome address. Zasheto Ringa, pastor Middle Khomi Baptist Church and Thupu Lohe, Youth Director Middle Khomi Baptist Church prayed for the event. CCSA General Secretary Krosanyi Thuluo led prize distribution while vote of thanks was proposed by CCSA Finance Secretary Vevoto Nakro.
