The 1st Li Ning North East Invitational Badminton Tournament organised by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Badminton Association and Mokokchung District Sports Council at Badminton Indoor stadium, Mokokchung concluded on December 17.

Er Moa Aier, Engineer in chief, Department of power, was the special guest at the closing program. During a brief closing program, Imomar, Tournament Refree, gave the tournament synopsis, where he mentioned that 80 players participated in the tournament with 53 entries in 47 and 6 events. Out of the total 80 players, 14 players were women. 15 players from outside of Nagaland participated in the tournament.

Tia Mollier, NBA executive gave the Nagaland Badminton Association remarks on the tournament while I Lipokmeren Jamir, Convenor, Organizing Committee, gave the vote of thanks.

Er Moa Aier in his speech stated that the government should focus on few sports and badminton should be one. He said that sport has become a viable source of livelihood and that parents should encourage their children in sports. He took the examples of successful badminton players in the country and said that opportunities in sports should be given to all and not just to a privileged group of player.
