Players and others during the 1st edition of Lt Thsanphu Memorial Volleyball Tournament held on January 16 and 17.

Tuensang, January 17 (MExN): The inaugural edition of Lt Thsanphu Memorial Volleyball Tournament was organised by Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with Yimkhiung Sports Association during Tsüngkamnyo cum Mini-hornbill Festival on January 16 and 17.
In the inaugural programme, Pintsu, Pastor of Y Anner Baptist Church said invocation, Shahoto, President YSA gave welcome and keynote address, Kethosituo, Director YRS and Keoshu, Advisor YRS Government of Nagaland delivered short speeches, Obed Quinker, Chairman NBHM and son of Lt P Thsanphu paid tribute to his late father. Special number was presented by Kihoto Theological College students. A minute of silence and prayer in homage to Lt Thsanphu was initiated by the chairperson Khalenmew Yimkhiung, Secretary YSA.
Kekongchim, State Information Commissioner declared the tournament open. Altogether 22 teams participated in the tournament. Chessore village won the championship and walked away with cash prize of Rs 50,000, Trophy and Certificate, Frontier Legends Pungrunger with first Runners-up prize of Rs 30,000, trophy and certificate. The two semi-finalists were awarded Rs 10,000 each. Best discipline team donated by Kekongchim of Rs 5,000 each was awarded to Hühdanger and Shungkiu teams and the best player of the Tournament was awarded to Shehoto of Kiussor Village. Championship prizes were sponsored by Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
