1st Miss Ao Nagaland 2016

Morung Express Entertainment   In a first of its kind in Mokokchung town, Lodestar – a group involved in organizing entertainment events – will be organizing the 1st Miss Ao Nagaland 2016 at Town Hall, Mokokchung on August 5, 2016. The show is being organized on the theme – Beauty with a purpose, and contest is open to all the bonafide Ao girls from all over Nagaland.   Declaring this at a press conference at the AKM Conference Hall here today, the Lodestar members disclosed that the criteria for the participants are unmarried Ao females in the age group from 18-27 years of age with a minimum height of 5’3 and above.   President of the Lodestar, Alem Imchen said that the Miss Ao Nagaland 2016 was conceptualized in order to promote and preserve the rich culture and traditions of the Ao community through the beauty of the girls. In this regard, she disclosed that, besides the regular beauty tips given during a beauty pageant, the participants would be intensively groomed on different topics like importance of mother tongue, the traditional dresses, preparation of traditional and modern cuisines, etc. The organizers are planning to rope in well-known personalities and academicians to groom the participants before the big day on August 5, 2016.   There will be attractive cash prizes and gift hampers to the winners of the contest. The main sponsor of the contest will be ‘Avon New York India’ and the chief judge will be Medha Saikia, who is the owner of Miss Luit (the mega model hunt in northeast India). The organizers will sponsor the dresses, make-up etc, except for the traditional round, for the participants.   The organizers also informed that the winner of the Miss Ao Nagaland will gain direct entry into the Miss Northeast Beauty pageant 2017. Besides, the three winners will represent Nagaland in the Miss Luit 2016. The seven top finalists of the Miss Ao Nagaland 2016 will also participate in the upcoming Itanagar Show in September 2016 in Arunachal Pradesh.

  The Lodestar Mokokchung was formed by a group of youngsters from different profession and background in the year 2011 with an aim to uplift the young aspiring talents from Nagaland. Ever since its formation, Lodestar had successfully hosted the ‘Get Gorgeous Angel Mega Model Hunt, Nagaland Season 7’ in 2014. The next year in 2015, it also successfully organized ‘Dance Prodigy Season 1’ at Mokokchung.   “Miss Ao Nagaland is going to be one of the best contests held in Nagaland with different taste in fashion and glamour world. Our main aim is to promote and preserve our rich culture and traditional attires to the next level. Moreover, we wanted to create public awareness about our distinct rich culture and tradition through this event,” stated the Lodestar through a brochure.
