The 1st Nagaland Edu Connect Conclave 2022 has registered massive turn out of the reputed educational institutions across the country, which commenced here today under the aegis of Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and North East Educational Council (NEEC) under the theme ‘Investment for the future.’

The students flocked the conclave stalls at Capital Convention Centre to obtain first-hand information about admission to colleges/institutes and the courses offered, fee structure, free education, scholarships, education loans, options for fellowships abroad, etc. This education expo intends to connect students seeking admissions with premier colleges/institutes of the country.

Education sector is dynamic and prolific
Addressing the inaugural function as chief patron, Nagaland School Education & SCERT Advisor KT Sukhalu said that it is important that proper information, knowledge about the educational institutions of choice, and customized information access to a wide array of educational institution across India at a single platform to explore and exercise options is made available to the students.

Sukhalu said that the Conclave is a step towards facilitating educational interface between top colleges, institutes and universities in India and the students of Nagaland.

Stating that education sector is dynamic and prolific, he said, “ As society and civilization become more complex and sophisticated, there are increasing areas of academic and career specialization leading to increasingly specialized field of study in various institutions and universities across the country.”

However, he said, this growth and diversification have not had equitable reach, either geographically or in terms of awareness. This is especially true in the state of Nagaland.

Sukhalu stressed on the need to address those challenges “as lack of awareness should not lead to the loss of opportunity for our students.”

 ‘Without youth nation building will not succeed’

In keynote address, Advisor Technical Education & Elections Medo Yhokha, said that the core mission and target vision of Edu Connect Conclave is to provide platform and to rob in the participation of the firms or company or corporate desiring to invest in the education sector of the state.

Thanking the presence of many reputed educational institutions in this Conclave, and showing serious concern to be lead partners in effort and quest towards nation building process, he said, “the great Indian nation will be not be a strong and square one, as long as the small ad deprived state likes us is left behind.”

He hoped that their presence will help in propelling and mark a beginning for the state of Nagaland to march and move forward in terms of peace, infrastructural development and advancement on human resources.

The state and the nation cannot afford to let lose the immense potential and resources represented by the youth and young people of the state, he said adding “Without having them on board on our nation building process will not succeed. With them and their strengths on we will not fail.”

‘Children are our greatest investment’
IDAN Chief Executive Officer, Alemtemshi Jamir said that education, although not exactly being an IDAN mandate has today come within its radar as a sector that has tremendous potential of investment- in setting up institutes of Medicine, Engineering, Technical, Digital, Management and endless list of vocational and skill building institute in Nagaland which the government cannot cover all.

“Children are our greatest investment and education occupies the most important and valuable deposit,” Jamir said.
He said that many countries have moved beyond the education process of “Memorization” so that of “creative” thinking and “technological” pursuits.

He said from next year, IDAN shall be passing on the baton to the line departments such as school education, higher and technical education to elevate the event to much higher scales.

Developing Nagaland as investment hub
Mizoram University Vice Chancellor Prof KRS Sambasiva Rao gave a presentation on “Investment in Educational Sector in Nagaland.” He said that Nagaland will be a destination for consideration as a place of choice for promising and progressive entrepreneurship. “If all the logistics and provisions are provided, Nagaland will be a great option for global ventures in education sector,” he said. It will not be any financial burden, if the PPP mode is preferred for developing Nagaland as investment hub, Prof Rao said.

North East Christian University Vice Chancellor Dr Darlando Khathing talked on admission procedure for joining higher education institutes of learning.

The inaugural function was compered by Vitono Haralu (Gugu).

The technical session saw presentation on scholarships for students, educational opportunities in livestock sector with special reference to Nagaland, career path guidance and fellowship abroad, faculty development and technical education in Nagaland.

It was followed by close-door session for educational investments in Nagaland.

Technical session on May 11 will commence from 10:00 am onwards. It will cover topics like, study of foreign language, facilities for availing education loan, empowerment through aspiration management. The valedictory function is scheduled at 12:00 noon.
