Peren, August 1 (MExN): The first edition of the New Jalukie Super League (NSL) concluded at Public Ground, New Jalukie under Peren district on July 31 with the final match being played between Bridge Colony FC and Pandemic FC.
Bridge Colony FC won the match 4-2 via tie breaker after the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Ipeusappe of Bridge Colony FC was awarded the Man of the Final Match.
Hornbill FC emerged as the NSL 2021 league winners and in the individual category, Elizah of Pandemic FC was awarded the Best Defender of the Tournament, Poujuaklung Gonmei of Hornbill FC was named Player of the Tournament and Atei of Bridge Colony FC emerged as the Top Goal Scorer.
Best Goalkeeper Award was won by Haiziu of Bridge Colony FC and the Most Promising Player of the Tournament was awarded to Chingthaipou of Hornbill FC.
The New Jalukie Super League was organized by senior football players and sports enthusiasts of New Jalukie with a motive of molding young budding players and to promote them at the grass root level while helping them showcase their talents and realize their potential in the discipline of football to become professionals, the organizers informed.
It is an annual football 7-a side event that kick started on June 22. The first edition of the league witnessed participation of 6 clubs.
G Apan, General Secretary, Dimapur District Veteran Football Association graced the closing ceremony as special guest.
On the final day, an exhibition match was also played between Dimapur District Veteran Football Association (DDVFA) team and New Jalukie Super League Organising Committee with the visiting team winning 4-1.
Apaina of DDVFA team was named the Man of the Match.
The Organising Committee of NSL 2021 extended gratitude to all the players of the 6 clubs and management teams for active participation throughout the first league season.
They also thanked the special guest and his team, individual award Sponsors, donors, match patrons, village leaders, volunteers, sports lovers from different quarters, fans and participants for contributions and encouragement during the first edition of the New Jalukie Super League.
