
Kohima, March 18 (MExN): The "1st RGS International Rating Chess Tournament 2014 (below 2200)" is all set to begin from 23rd March at the Royal Global School Indoor Hall, Guwahati The event with a total Prize fund of Rs 5,01,500/- is the biggest ever International Rating event in the north east in terms of Prize money. Also going by the current trend with over 200 participants already registered, it stands to become the biggest ever chess event in terms of total number of participants. Altogether 10 rounds will be played over 6 days in swiss league format. The event is open to all players with rating of 2200 or below. The organizers are also allowing unrated players to participate in this event so that they get an opportunity to gain International Rating.
Apart from the Indian players, a few players from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh are also participating in this mega event. International Arbiter Debashish Barua of West Bengal is appointed as Chief Arbiter of the event. The organizers will receive entry from local players up to 22nd March 2014.
