Nagaland Health & Family Welfare’s Commissioner & Secretary Y Kikheto Sema today informed that two COVID-19 cases have been detected in Nagaland in the recent past. Presently, there are two active cases in the state, detected on February 8 and February 11, he informed while addressing a press conference here today.
However, he noted that the COVID-19 cases continue to remain low in the state.
A Whole Genome Sequence (WGS) machine has been installed in BSL3 Laboratory in Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), he informed. “Henceforth, WGS can be carried out in the state as part of the Revised Surveillance Strategy to detect any new emerging variant of Covid-19,” Sema added.
He also informed that all protocols for conduct of elections to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly have been put in place in compliance with the broad guidelines issued by the Election Commission. There is also no indication of increased severity of COVID-19 infection, the Commissioner & Secretary added.
