2 blasts rock Imphal

Newmai News Network Imphal | January 15 Amid security measures being enhanced ahead of the Republic Day celebration in Imphal, two blasts rocked the state capital this evening. However, there were no reports of casualty due to the blasts, except for an injury caused to a man from one of the blasts.   Police said that miscreants hurled a hand grenade inside M-Section in the heart of Imphal at around 5:50 pm causing little damage to the wall of the complex. M-Sector, a military campus is located adjacent to the Raj Bhavan.   According to the police, the second blast took place after 10 minutes, which is located about 40 feet away from spot of the first blast. The bomb was planted near a tree adjacent to Johnstone Higher Secondary School wall facing Kangla.   One IMC sweeper identified as one Yensembam Subita, 50 years, of Langthabal was injured and one police vehicle was partly damaged by the splinters of the explosive in the second incident.   No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts.
