Dimapur, December 7 (MExN): Youth delegates from the 10 Himalayan Mountain States, Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao are coming together to discuss various issues during the 3rd Indian Himalayan Youth Summit starting December 8. Among others, the 2-day event will deliberate on the themes which have been arrived at by the delegates themselves such as Skills & Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Resource Management, Migration, Politics and Policy, Sustainable Development Goals, and Sustainable Tourism. A total of 112 delegates will represent the aforesaid areas while many would be joining via Facebook Live and other social media platforms to watch the proceedings, stated a press release from Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), the organiser of the summit.
The plenary session starting at 2 PM will highlight innovation in the mountain economies during the ongoing pandemic. The valedictory session on December 9 will be joined by with Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog and Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor in the Finance Ministry.  The Summit, hosted by the Sustainable Development Forum of Uttarakhand (SDFU), is part of the Sustainable Mountain Development Summit IX – (SMDS IX) which is starting on the December 11.
